Mad Systems was privileged to work with the USC Shoah Foundation, opening their global headquarters on the campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA in 2018. This headquarters facility includes offices for the Foundation members along with an interactive visitor center designed to further the foundation’s mission in creating visual history accessible and educational through Holocaust survivor testimonies.

Mad Systems was asked to design the Audio Visual system for the experiential visitor center in the lobby and adjoining conference rooms for meetings and presentations. A key feature of the lobby includes the “Waterfall” exhibits, made of two 10 foot high interactive displays which share powerful testimonies.

Mad Systems is honored to have contributed to this project, enhancing educational outreach and ensuring the lessons of history are remembered. Our work with the Shoah Foundation at the USC headquarters has led to future projects across the United States.

Another standout element is the “Mirror Wall,” a semi-reflective glass wall measuring 24 feet wide and 10 feet high and comprising seven 70-inch monitors. This exhibit features a multi-touch overlay interactive experience that can operate as seven individual monitors or a singular display. More survivor testimonies can be viewed here as well as an interactive map with interviews from human rights activists all over the world.

The final component of Mad Systems’ installation includes three matching informational towers created out of 70-inch portrait mounted touch screens. Each tower was designed to narrate different aspects of the Shoah Foundation’s vital work, an exhibit they call “Pathways to Testimony.”

This installation is supported by a traditional AV system, including comprehensive rack work components.
