Astronomy, made physical.

Mad designed and installed the observatory’s audiovisual system and contributed touchscreen and electromechanical exhibits. The work brought media, controls and physical models into the interpretation of astronomical ideas.

The scope included five telluria, mechanical models that demonstrate astronomical relationships, and modelmaking and implementation for five Magic Box exhibits. Several of the Magic Boxes use Pepper’s Ghost techniques to combine an image with a physical setting.

More than equipment integration.

This project joined audiovisual engineering with modelmaking, mechanical fabrication and interactive software. Each part needed to serve the exhibit’s explanation, rather than exist as a separate technical feature.

Audiovisual engineering, interactive controls and precise physical models support a common purpose: making astronomical relationships understandable to visitors.

Design. Engineer. Deliver.

What should your visitors experience?

Bring Mad your brief, an exhibit idea or an operating challenge. We can connect the experience with the audiovisual systems, software and physical details needed to realize it.
