THE RETROFIT SEQUENCE
A new foundation for the equipment worth keeping.
1. Assess. Establish the intended result and which existing peripherals can support it.
2. Retrofit with QuickSilver. Replace or reconfigure the legacy playback and control foundation, including the required interfaces and network.
3. Add selected AV++ capabilities. Specify, integrate and commission the suitable new functions. The retrofit creates the route; it does not bundle every technology.
QuickSilver® Retrofit gives an existing venue a practical route into AV++®. First, Mad assesses the installation and identifies the projectors, displays, loudspeakers and other peripheral equipment that can remain. Legacy playback and control equipment is then replaced or reconfigured around the QuickSilver computing foundation. Selected AV++ capabilities can be considered once that foundation is in place.
An AV++ capability is not simply added over an unmodified legacy AV system. The retrofit establishes the necessary QuickSilver software, computing, interfaces and network path first. The project can then specify the appropriate personalization, language, accessibility, interaction or control capability, with its content, integration and commissioning requirements. Existing equipment is retained when its condition, interfaces and performance support the intended result.
Retrofit Deployment Features
Assess and sequence
Survey equipment, interfaces, media and network conditions, then define the replacement sequence and the commissioning plan.
Retain suitable peripherals
Keep serviceable projectors, displays, speakers and other equipment when they meet the new system’s performance and connection requirements.
Phase the work
A gallery or zone can form a defined phase, with operating dependencies and the temporary visitor experience planned before work begins.
Renew playback and control
Replace or reconfigure the legacy core with QuickSilver. Qualified interfaces connect the retained peripherals and any participating external systems.
Plan the operating interruption
Site access, equipment changeover, network work and acceptance testing determine the required downtime. The work sequence is agreed for the venue.

After retrofit, assess which capabilities the new QuickSilver installation can support. Each application, content set and integration is specified and qualified separately.
