Lory® is the Mad Systems media delivery layer for accessible and personalized visitor communication. It enables venues to deliver synchronized audio, captions, translated content, sign language assets, and other media formats through personal devices and compatible hearing technologies - without forcing every visitor into the same delivery channel.
In practice, Lory® helps venues move beyond one-size-fits-all assistive systems toward a model in which accessibility, language, and delivery preference are treated as design requirements from the start. It runs as a synchronized parallel layer alongside the main show, adapting media format to each visitor's device, hearing technology, language, and need. For neurodivergent visitors, Lory® can deliver calm media versions with reduced audio intensity and no background music. It is as relevant to inclusion as it is to infrastructure modernization.
Most venue accessibility systems are add-ons: a loop system here, a captioning screen there, a rental device at the front desk. Lory® is designed differently. It routes the right media to the right person at the right moment through infrastructure that is already in place. The same QuickSilver® nodes that run the exhibit also run Lory®. The same show synchronization layer that controls the main presentation also triggers Lory® delivery. Accessibility is not a separate workflow - it is part of how the venue operates.

ListenAssist® delivers the exhibit audio stream directly into the visitor's hearing aid or cochlear implant processor using standard Bluetooth audio protocols. The signal arrives in the visitor's hearing device at individually adjustable volume, bypassing the room acoustics entirely. For visitors with hearing loss, this is a qualitatively different experience from any loop or FM system.
Induction loop systems, FM assistive listening devices, and rental handsets. Each of those requires physical infrastructure, charging management, device distribution and return logistics, and regular maintenance. ListenAssist® requires none of that. If a visitor's hearing aid is Bluetooth-compatible, the system works with what they already own.
Induction loops degrade with distance, introduce hum near electrical equipment, and are affected by loop shape and room geometry. Bluetooth direct streaming eliminates those variables. The signal received by the hearing aid is the exhibit audio signal, not a re-radiated version of it. Latency is managed within the Lory® synchronization layer to maintain precise alignment with the visual and main-channel audio content.
ListenAssist® delivers a structurally equivalent experience to visitors with hearing loss, not a degraded alternative. The visitor does not have to identify themselves, request a device, manage rental hardware, or navigate a separate system. Accessibility is delivered through the same infrastructure that serves every other visitor. That distinction matters both for genuine inclusion and for compliance posture.

Lory® can be deployed as a standalone system or as part of the full AV++® stack. In standalone mode, it requires WiFi infrastructure, a show controller that can send synchronization triggers, and a content management workflow. In full AV++® mode, it runs on QuickSilver® nodes alongside Alice®, CheshireCat®, and TeaParty® - using shared infrastructure and a common synchronization architecture. Visitor devices connect via QR or NFC entry point. No app installation is required. Lory® serves visitors through the device browser.
Lory® is available through direct project delivery and technology licensing. It can be specified as an independent accessibility and multilingual layer or as part of the full AV++® architecture.
